I have been LAX at reading my favorite horse blogs, but decided to catch up on my lunch hour today. In visiting Halt Near X, I read her post on the Georgian Grande. Halt Near X isn't a fan, but one person's pain is another person's pleasure.
I visited the registry and a farm website, these are some very pretty horses, a combination of a saddlebred and a draft. I must say, I like, I like!

Hello! Thanks for the comment on my blog! I LOVE yours! You have great tips and things, cute horse pics, too, I think I will bookmark/favorite this one! ;-)
Your tips really are helpful!
It's the existence of the registry more than the existence of the cross that confuses me.
But from what I've read here and there since writing that post, it appears they are serious about their program and are producing horses that are successful in the show ring, which is a whole lot more than I'm doing.
By the way -- congrats on the farm! Sounds like things are progressing well?
I had read this post already and found it interesting.
BTW, it is my one year anniversary blogging today. Checking back through my posts, you were one of my very first readers. Thanks so much for being there!
I first heard of Georgian Grandes in the January 2007 breed issue of Practical Horseman. My first instinct was to say no way; mainly because I'm not a huge fan of Saddlebreds. But they are gorgeous horses! Apparently a big reason this cross is popular is because of their great personalities. Of all the different crosses in that issue, this was one of my favorites!
I own a Georgian Grande. He's mistaken for a Holsteiner at the shows I take him to. He's going to be 4 in April and we're showing at first level but we're already doing to baby steps of some grand prix movements on the ground. He's a really smart horse. I love him to death. He's just a giant puppy dog. He listens better than my dogs do. He really knows how to touch peoples hearts, I can trust him with anyone.
I also own one--he is a gentle giant with great movement
