I have decided to take Tesoro to the Evergreen Gaited Showcase in two weeks. I have been riding Tesoro consistently so I feel like he is in good shape and there are only 3 Paso Fino classes, so between that and a few OGB (Open Gaited Breed) classes, we will take it pretty easy.
What I plan to spend a lot of time on this time is mentally preparing myself for the show. Tesoro is SO sensitive that when I am doing anything but relaxing, he is translating my tension into poor performance. I am going to meditate on my riding for 5 minutes every day for the 12 days, I know that this will help Tesoro and I be team and take us to the next level.
Wish us luck!

Good Luck girl....loud exhales, remember to breathe:-)
Good luck! (But you probably don't need it!)
I've just found your blog and have enjoyed reading...
I have a horse question for you....
We have an orphaned/rejected colt here, about 2 1/2 months old. He's been bottle raised since birth and we were told to start weaning him off the replacer now, giving him more grass hay and a touch of alfa-oats for grain.
He really looks thin to me...akin to malnourished, really :o( What would you suggest for him...just keep going with the milk replacer, maybe some sort of vitamins or something? We're about as green with all this as his momma is...
Deanna
Deanna,
I have never raised a baby from scratch, but they start eating hay pretty early on in my understanding. It is pretty common to wean babies at around 4 months. Many momma's will stop letting babies nurse so much. Remember in the wild a nursing baby is a liability, so the ability of a baby to forage for itself is a good thing. There are some good resources on the net and I would suggest visiting some message boards, but most importantly listen to your vetrinarian.
How did you do? Anxiously waiting for another Jerri post.......
